Training & (not)traveling

By Erica

I’m heading back to Madison today after two weeks of vacation in Boston.  This is probably the last time I’ll be able to leave town for more than a couple days until next September.  Although it’s pretty easy to bring along a pair of sneakers and running clothes when I travel, as training gets more intense, running won’t be enough to keep me in shape; and it’s not as easy to put a road bike or a pool in my carry-on!

When March comes along, we’re going to start doing long half-day training sessions on weekends. I’m really excited because those long days will be really fun (especially with Camila & Eileen as company), but this also means that even weekend trips will be harder. In order to train for an Ironman, you have to learn to compromise and make sacrifices.  It’s like being in a relationship, but one with more physical pain and spandex.
